The Home Mutual Development Fund (HMDF), widely known as Pag-IBIG Fund, is now offering loans of up to P500,000 for the installation of solar panels in homes.

These solar panels are capable of producing at least 1,000 kilowatts of electricity per month. According to Pag-IBIG Fund Cebu Manager Rio Teves, members who already have an existing housing loan can still apply for this additional loan under the “major home improvement loans” category, which covers electrical improvements like solar panel installations, including necessary materials and cost estimates.

This solar panel loan program supports the government’s renewable energy goals aimed at addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability. Teves emphasized that members with houses can take advantage of this opportunity, even if their current housing loan has not been fully paid, as long as the total loans do not exceed P6 million. While members can apply online through the Pag-IBIG Online Housing Loan Application (OHLA), Teves recommends submitting applications in person at any Pag-IBIG office for quicker assistance with any questions or concerns.
