The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is advancing plans to implement regulations that will require manufacturers of solar panel systems to obtain government certification.

This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen the oversight of the quality and safety of solar products available in the Philippine market.

The proposed rules, crafted by the DTI’s Bureau of Philippine Standards, will cover solar photovoltaic modules, battery energy storage systems, inverters, charge controllers, and cables used in both residential and commercial setups. The certification will apply to products made locally or imported, ensuring they meet Philippine National Standards. Manufacturers will be given a transition period to comply once the regulation is finalized, helping promote safer and more reliable solar energy solutions in the country.
